Court rules in favour of Areti Tsohatzopoulou's release

The five-member Felonies Appeals Court on Tuesday ruled in favour of the release of Areti Tsohatzopoulou, daughter of jailed former PASOK minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos, and against the release of his wife Vicky Stamati in the relation to a defense procurement kickbacks and money-laundering case.

The court ruled in favour of the release of Areti Tsohatzopoulou, who has been imprisoned for 2.5 years, by a majority of three votes to two. The court imposed on Areti Tsohatzopoulou a ban on leaving the country and a 30,000 euro bail while she is required to appear twice a month at a police station.
"I am very happy that I will return to my children," Areti Tsohatzopoulou said after the announcement of the court decision.
On the contrary, the court decided against the early release of Tsohatzopoulos' wife, who has been facing psychological problems and is held at the Dromokaitio Psychiatric Hospital.
