Long before this food become "fashion" in our country, every part of Greece had different recipes for the day of Christmas.

In Ionian used to eat pork with cabbage

The local name of the recipe was "poutrida" i.e. pork with cabbage or cauliflower.

In Zakynthos, they used to eat meat with boiled broccoli or (in the older times) only boiled broccoli.

North East Aegean

The newest years in Samos and neighboring islands of the northern Aegean eat stuffed chicken, but the older times, they used to eat pork.

Cyclades: Fish and cauliflower

In Syros, at Christmas used to eat fish and cauliflower, mainly in the Christmas eve.

In Euboea used to eat pork with celery

A festive recipe that has prominent position also in modern times, is pork with celery, however is the traditional recipe of Chalkida.

Mani: The Lalagia

The traditional sweet of Christmas in Mani, was lallagia. The housewives were making a very thin dough, fold it in four and fry it in hot oil.
