Tsakalotos: The first target is to avoid the debt 'trap'

"We are saying that we need to reverse almost everything the government has said. We must restart the economy and deal with the humanitarian crisis. There will be flagship interventions as of the first week, for people that have no access to electricity and for people that have no housing, but also regulations for the economy so as to give a breather to small entrepreneurs and small shop owners...Saying there is no other way is unacceptable and absurd. Citizens across Europe and all peoples have always had choices," he said.

He noted that the first target is to avoid the continuation of "the trap called debt."
"There should definitely be a debt write-off. To the best of my knowledge, no respected economist claims that this debt is sustainable," he said.
