Debt relief technical details must be now decided, IMF chief Lagarde says
The agreement on the Greek debt sustainability must be in compliance with the IMF rules, the IMF president Christine Lagarde said in an event held by Bruegel Institute in Brussels on the course of the global economy.
Lagarde said that the amount of the debt relief will be determined in 2018, after the end of the programme, however the technical details must be now agreed.
She explained that in order to propose the IMF participation in the Greek programme, there must be a "sufficient level of commitment" by Greece's creditors for debt relief. She also stressed the importance of specific debt relief measures.
