People slowly gathering at Athens Polytechnic to honour 1973 student uprising
Citizens and representatives of agencies and organisations have been laying wreaths and flowers before the monument in the Athens Metsovion Polytechnic since early on Friday morning to commemorate the student uprising against the junta on November 17, 1973.
The mood is subdued, partly because of the heavy, overcast sky, but parents with their children and grandparents with their grandchildren have been arriving steadily at the historic area to pay homage to the students killed by junta forces.
