Woman injured during Exarchia rioting in «stable but still serious condition», doctors say
The 55-year-old woman lawyer injured by a flare during clashes in Athens on Friday night remains unconscious in an ICU following surgery, according to a hospital announcement. Doctors at the hospital on Monday described her condition as «stable but serious».
The woman was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery after a flare shot off by rioters became lodged in her knee, during clashes with police in Exarchia after the end of the Athens Polytechnic Uprising protest march, which is held in Athens each year.
The hospital announcement said her wound had been cleaned and that the patient was "haemodynamically stable" but still intubated and on life support.
