Another 265 refugees depart from Lesvos, heading for Piraeus
Another group of 265 refugees and migrants, all of whom have been classed as vulnerable, were allowed to leave the island of Lesvos at 20:00 on Sunday night, boarding a ferry bound for Piraeus. They are the third group to leave the island, following the 408 individuals that left on Friday and Saturday.
Mass departures of refugees and migrants from Lesvos will continue over the coming days, according to a migration policy ministry plan, to ensure that roughly 3,500 individuals are left at the island's existing reception facilities at the end of the month, which is estimated to be the number that can live there in safety.
Following the latest departures, there are an estimated 7,500 refugees and migrants on Lesvos.
