Hiker found dead on Mt Olympus in third incident within four days
The dead body of a 54-year old hiker believed to have been killed in an accident on Mount Olympus was located by a rescue team just after midnight.
The body was tranferred to the General Hospital of Katerini in a helicopter.
Fortunately, the victim's 37-year old companion was found alive though injured in the same area and also sent to hospital.
The Fire Brigade was alerted to the incident on Monday afternoon when the 37-year old called for help using his cellphone.
It was the third rescue operation on Mount Olympus since last Saturday, when a 25-year old hiker was killed and a second was rescued unharmed. Another incident occurred on Sunday, in which two injured hikers were rescued.
