Electronic ticket barriers in metro to operate soon, says Transport Min Spirtzis
The ticket barriers in Athens metro stations will begin operating very soon but only once passengers have been trained in their use and any possible problems solved, stated Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency radio 'Praktoreio 104.9 FM' on Monday, regarding the implementation of the e-ticket in the Athens metro.
"The barriers will remain open for a short while and this is completely reasonable. When there are such huge changes in crucial systems, there must be a trial period for people to get acquainted with and learn how to use the system," said the minister.
On the works conducted at Macedonia international airport in Thessaloniki, Spirtzis underlined that the work was progressing on schedule and he predicted that there will be no delays.
