At least 380,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine administered in Greece so far, says Theodoridou
The onset of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) after the administration of an AstraZeneca vaccine is only a very rare occurrence, said the Greek National Vaccination Committee Maria Theodoridou at Monday's live briefing.
To date, there is no official correlation between such an incident and a patient's previous history of thrombosis, she added, as there is only one chance in 100,000 people for any such incident to occur, whether -or not- a person has a history of thrombosis.
Moreover, she underlined, there has been no reported incidents of thrombosis after the administration of the second -and final- dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
At least 380,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in Greece so far.
