Georgiadis: What is most important for the country is a stable government

Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis said that the the most important thing for the country was to have a stable government, while speaking on Tuesday to the radio station "Parapollitika" and commenting on rumours about planned changes to electoral law.

"My steadfast position throughout my political career has been that the first and foremost thing for the country is to have a stable government. This does not depend on the current conjucture. My unwavering position is against simple proportional representation and in favour of the bonus [extra seats for the first party]," he said.

"I believe" Georgiadis underlined, "that the Greek people will judge us fairly and will vote for us again. I can see not a single reason why someone who voted for us in 2019 will not vote for us again in 2023".

On the phone tapping of opposition PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis, Georgiadis said that "it is not possible for an entire party to spend all day talking about Mr. Androulakis' mobile phone. It is a serious matter, no objections there...but it is not the only issue in the country. The people have problems, they want to move on with their lives," he said, adding that enough had been said on this issue.
