Italian foreign ministry condemns attack on diplomat's car in Athens

"We firmly condemn the vile explosive attack targeting tonight the car and house of Italian diplomat Susanna Schlein in Athens," the Italian foreign ministry posted on Twitter on Friday, referring to the torching of car owned by an employee of the Italian Embassy in Athens.

"Full solidarity and support to our colleague and the staff of the Italian Embassy in Greece, as we wait for a thorough police investigation," it added.

In another tweet, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that he was travelling to Greece to meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and he would also visit the Italian embassy in Athens.
