The islet of Evros where migrants were found is not Greek territory

The Ministry of Citizen Protection issued a statement regarding the undocumented migrants located on an islet in Evros River, which does not belong to Greek territory.

According to the announcement, the Greek police was notified yesterday (8/12) morning by the NGO "Watch the Med" about the existence of undocumented migrants on the islet of Evros. Following the necessary procedures carried out by the Greek Authorities, in collaboration with the responsible body of the Hellenic Army General Staff, on the coordinates given to them, it emerged that the specific point does not belong to Greek territory.

Then, according to the same announcement, the NGO and Frontex were immediately informed while the Turkish Authorities at the international station of Kapitan Andreevo were notified by NOTAM for the collection of the migrants.
