Economou: The government does not cover up behaviour outside the law

"This scene of violence, lawlessness, attack against institutions of order, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated", he said.

"The government is in constant communication with the Roma community. If one sees the measures and policies of support and integration that we have for special population groups throughout the previous period, one will realize that very significant progress has been made in this area and there is constant communication," government spokesperson Yianns Economou said in an interview with MegaTV.

As he said, there are "integration policies that have to do mainly with incentives for children to go to school as well as housing policies. From then on, the state has the same demands from all Greeks, from all our fellow citizens - and from our Roma fellow citizens - to respect the laws and rules of the organized state."

He underlined that "just as the government does not hide and does not cover up the responsibilities and behaviours of anyone who escapes the framework of the law - whether he is a public and state official, a civil servant, or the head of a voluntary organisation that hosted children - the same applies for all categories. This scene of violence, lawlessness, attack against institutions of order, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated."
