PM Mitsotakis briefs Meloni on Turkish threats against Greece

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, during their meeting before the start of the European Council on Thursday, expressed their desire to strengthen bilateral relations and expand Greek-Italian cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual interest within the EU, such as energy and economic governance.

According to government sources, the two leaders also discussed regional and international issues, as well as the social and economic repercussions of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In fact, Mitsotakis informed Meloni about the latest developments in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean and underlined that the aggressive rhetoric of the Turkish political leadership, which directly threatens Greece, endangers security and stability in the region.

Finally, Mitsotakis and Meloni agreed to remain in contact, government sources added.
