Starting on Monday, the 2022-2023 vaccine against influenza can be administered in pharmacies without a doctor's prescription for certain categories of the population. It will be given free of charge and paid for by EOPYY and the other state health insurance funds.

The vaccine against the flu is recommended for persons over 60 and adults with chronic respiratory and cardiovascular complaints, as well as immunosuppressed individuals, transplant patients, diabetics, and those with kidney or liver failure, neuromuscular ailments and Down's Syndrome.

It is additionally recommended for pregnant women and new or nursing mothers, obese individuals and those who care for babies or persons at higher risk from influenza, those living in large institutions (schools, prisons etc), for staff in healthcare and people that regularly handle pork and poultry, whether alive or dead, as well as the homeless.
