Unknown individual shoots and kills two men in Nea Smyrni
Two Albanian men, aged 41 and 44 years old, respectively, were shot dead in an execution-style killing by an unknown person late Sunday at a bar in the Athens district of Nea Smyrni. A 31-year-old woman sitting at a nearby table was also injured by a stray bullet and admitted to Erythros Stavros hospital in Athens.
Another man was more lightly injured when he tripped in his attempt to flee the scene and hit his head.
The incident occurred at 21:30 on Sunday in a busy Nea Smyrni square, when a man dressed in black with a surgical mask on his face walked up to the victims' table, took out a pistol and started shooting at close range.
The 41-year-old died instantly while the 44-year-old died shortly afterwards in hospital.
Attica Police, who are carrying out a preliminary investigation, have attributed the shooting to a settlement of differences.
