Turkish F-16s infringe Athens FIR, fly over Kinaros and Glaros
Two pairs of Turkish F-16s on Wednesday infringed Greece's Flight Information Region (FIR) and airspace, carrying out overflights above the islets of Kinaros, east of Amorgos, and Glaros.
Two pairs of Turkish F-16s on Wednesday infringed Greece's Flight Information Region (FIR) and airspace, carrying out overflights above the islets of Kinaros, east of Amorgos, and Glaros.
According to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, a pair of Turkish F-16s entered the Athens FIR without submitting flight plans and infringed Greek airspace. The Turkish planes flew over Kinaros at 25,000 feet at 09:43. Three minutes later, a second pair of Turish fighter jets infringed Greek national airspace and flew over Kinaros and Glaros at 19.000 feet.
Earlier, at 02:56 on Wednesday, a Turkish drone (UAV) entered Athens' FIR without submitting flight plans and flew over Kinaros at 18,000 feet.
In all above cases, the Turkish aircraft were recognised and intercepted according to the international rules and standard practice.
