The absolute priority is the protection of human life, Marinakis says
Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis referred to the government's actions on combatting the recent fires, the tightening of penalties for arson, as well as the interventions aimed at increasing citizens' incomes in an interview with Action24 on Friday.
Marinakis said that the complete mapping of the burnt areas has not yet been completed, but it is certainly a very difficult year.
"The absolute priority is the protection of human life followed by the properties and then by the land," he added.
"The government's actions are essentially divided into the following levels: firstly, at the level of prevention with the purchase of 114 drones, with the adoption of a European notification system in case of increased heat, at the level of cleaning, where two very large programmes have already been implemented, but also with sanctions ... and legal measures."
As for the citizens' income, he said that this is a period of imported inflation, adding that the government is taking permament measures for the support of all the citizens.
