Staikouras:Road accessibility, building resilient infrastructures against future storms are priority
The priorities of the Infrastructure and Transport Ministry after the 'Daniel' storm is restoring access to areas isolated after floods, implementing more resilient projects, and inspecting and maintaining existing works, Minister Christos Staikouras told Parapolitika FM radio station on Monday.
In an interview, Staikouras said he had requested of all regions that they send data the soonest possible. But he added, that "in order to have a specific cost-assessment of restoring the works, we must agree on what projects we want in the future."
As Staikouras underlined, "It is certain we will need more resilient works for less favorable circumstances, but what these extreme circumstances will be and what kind of projects we will construct in the future is related to Greece's financial capabilities." Referring to the 2020 'Ianos' Medicane, the minister said the issue was "what are our expectations from a project? To withstand the repercussions of an Ianos, or to withstand repercussions four times greater than Ianos?"
