FM Gerapetritis in New York for 78th UN General Assembly
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, is to visit New York in order to participate in the proceedings of the High Level Week of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation, from September 18 to September 23.
The priority of the foreign minister is the promotion of Greece's candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the two years 2025-2026 and promoting Greek foreign policy positions, according to the foreign ministry's announcement.
Gerapetritis' schedule includes high-level meetings, bilateral and multilateral contacts with foreign ministers from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as meetings with high-ranking officials of the UN, EU and regional organisations.
The foreign minister will participate in trilateral Greece-Cyprus meetings with Israel, Egypt and Jordan, respectively. A quadrilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia will also take place.
