Greek households' available income and final consumption spending up in 2022

Greek households and non-profit organisations offering services to households recorded a 7.6% increase, or 9.6 billion euros, in their available income to 134.9 billion euros in 2022, from 126.3 billion in 2021, while final consumption spending grew 14.3% to 141.4 billion euros from 123.7 billion over the same periods, respectively, and the savings rate fell further to -4% from 2.1% in 2021.

Hellenic Statistical Authority, in a report released on Thursday, said that investments in the financial sector (gross fixed capital formation/gross added value) dropped to 19.3% in 2022 from 20.4% in 2021. The external balance of goods and services recorded a deficit of 20.1 billion euros in 2022 from 14.1 billion in 2021, while the economy recorded a net loan portfolio inflow of 16.8 billion euros, from 10.6 billion in 2021.
