Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, in a press briefing on Thursday, said that the government is steadfastly oriented to carrying out reforms, referring reporters to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' statement to the Cabinet on Tuesday.

Concerning the finance ministry bill against tax evasion, Marinakis said that it is a comprehensive measure that includes a wide range of reforms, which are based on performing targeted audits. He underlined that the new system uses the minimum wage as a benchmark because self-employed entrepreneurs can't be permitted to declare lower incomes than the minimum-wage employees who work for them.

The government estimates that the measures against tax evasion, once fully implemented, will bring an additional 3.0 billion euros in tax revenues annually, Marinakis said.

Concluding, the government spokesperson referred to the prime minister's official visit to China, where Mitsotakis will meet on Friday with the President of People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang and the Chairman of the National People's Congress of China, Zhao Leji.

The visit was arranged a long time ago and is expected to be an opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as issues of regional and international interest, he said.

Greece seeks to strengthen bilateral trade relations with China, as well as relations in the tourism sector and to increase Greek exports to China, especially of agricultural and processed goods, he added.
