Androulakis: Government's horizontal tax a caress for big-time tax evaders

Opposition PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis on Tuesday discussed the government's announcements regarding the taxation of the self-employed with representatives of freelance professional associations and employer unions at the party's offices in the Greek parliament.

Androulakis began by saying that there is a problem and that this needs to be addressed in a manner that is modern, fair and objective. He accused the government of adopting a "selfish attitude", claiming that it had revealed nothing of its intentions before the elections but then proceeded to announce horizontal measures.

He added that this indicated the government's ineptitutde, as it is failing to take advantage of modern digital tools to address tax evasion and tax avoidance.

According to PASOK's leader, the government's measures are a mere caress for big-time tax evaders, at the expense of weaker freelance professionals.
