PM Mitsotakis attends funeral of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday attended the funeral of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis in Thessaloniki.

Lyggeridis, who was injured by a naval flare during clashes between sports fans and police in Rentis on December 7, died of his injuries in hospital several weeks later.

Others attending the funeral included main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Dora Avgeri, representing main opposition leader Stefanos Kasselakis, opposition PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis, opposition Niki party leader Dimitris Natsios, Citizen Protection Minister Yiannis Economou and Deputy Citizen Protection Minister Konstantinos Katsafados, Alternate Health Minister Irini Agapidaki and Deputy Health Minister Dimitris Vartzopoulos, Deputy Minister for Macedonia and Thrace Stathis Konstantinidis, the head of SYRIZA's parliamentary group Sokratis Famellos, the General Secretary of ruling New Democracy's parliamentary group, Stavros Kalafatis, the newly elected mayor of Thessaloniki Stelios Aggeloudis and outgoing mayor Konstantinos Zervas, the vice governor of Thessaloniki Voula Patoulidou, MPs and other officials.
