Mitsotakis speaks with Egyptian President Sisi, expresses concern over Gaza

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his strong concern over developments in Gaza and the Lebanese-Israeli borders in a phone call to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday.

In a call to congratulate Sisi on his reelection, the two leaders discussed, among others, the further boosting of Greek-Egyptian strategic relations and the most recent developments in the region.

Mitsotakis reiterated his rising concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and underlined that Greece supported Egypt's efforts for safe and immediate delivery of humanitarian help to civilians. He also expressed his appreciation of Egypt's constructive stance on resolving the Middle East crisis.

In addition, the two leaders expressed their concern over the rising tension at the Israel-Lebanon borders, while they also discussed Egyptian-European Union relations, the expansion of which Greece supports as Egypt is a pillar of stability in the wider region.
