The talks of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with representatives of farmers at the Maximos Mansion were "very constructive", government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said on Mega TV on Tuesday.

In an interview, the government spokesperson stated that the requests were presented in a structured manner, while the prime minister's proposal was "specific, well-studied, and focused."

Marinakis emphasized that the PM addressed the farmers' two main requests. He referred to the proposal for electricity, which will remain at cost levels for two years. "It is important that this fair proposal by the prime minister will not draw money from the state budget. Also very important is the proposal for the settlement of all farmers' electricity debts over a 10-year period, without interest. For agricultural diesel, we will have a reimbursement of the special consumption tax for a third year, with a 50% advance payment, while the discussion will open for a more permanent and fairer payment method," said Marinakis.

He pointed out that there was substantive dialogue, and the farmers acknowledged what was achieved. Regarding the government's response in the event that farmers block roads, Marinakis replied that he did not believe it wll come to that, while at the same time he stated that the government will not jeopardize the free movement of citizens.
