Greek employers more optimistic
Greek employers expect that the number of employed people will rise in five out of the nine sectors of the economy in the April-June 2014 period, a survey by Manpower showed on Tuesday.
The survey on employment outlook in Greece in the second quarter of 2014 was conducted on a sample of 750 employers in the public and private sectors.
The quarterly survey showed that 19 pct of employers expect an increase in their workforce, an 11 pct expect a decline and a 68 pct expect no change at all. Total employment outlook grew by one percentage point to +5 pct, compared with the previous quarter and by 11 percentage points compared with the same period in 2013.
The most optimistic hiring plans were recorded in the financial services, insurance, real estate and services sectors (+19 pct), followed by the transport/communications (+11 pct), tourism (+8 pct) and the commerce sector (wholesale/retail) (+6 pct). However, three sectors expect a decline in employment numbers, particularly in the agriculture and construction sectors.
