Negotiations between the government and the institutions to resume at 3 pm
The negotiations between the government and the heads of the institutions will resume at 3 pm amid optimism that a staff level agreement will be reached at the March 20 Eurogroup.
"I have the sense that eveyrone has now focused on March 20 in order to have significant progress," a govenment official said. "We have to make the people feel that an important step has been taken even if not all issues have been resolved," the source noted adding that 3 or 4 political issues will remain.
The same source said that the staff level agreement is within the deadlines (by 2018) and includes among other the fiscal gap (the IMF has accepted that there is no fiscal gap in 2018) and the extrajudicial settlement.
The main issue however are the measures and the offset measures. There is great convergence on some of the offset measures both on terms of expenses and revenues, the same source noted.
