Greek households' available income down 2.3 pct in 2016

The available income of Greek households and non-profit organisations fell by 2.7 billion euros, or 2.3 pct, in 2016 compared with 2015, to 114 billion euros, with final consumption spending falling by 1.3 billion euros or 1.0 pct to 121.7 billion, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Monday.

The statistics service said that households' and non-profit organisations' saving rate was -6.8 pct in 2016 from -5.4 pct in 2015.

The investment rate of the non-financial companies sector was 18.2 pct in 2016 from 15.2 pct in the previous year, while the external balance of goods and services recorded a deficit of 1.3 billion euros, from a surplus of 100 million in 2016. Imports of goods and services was 54.3 billion euros in 2016, from 55.8 billion in 2016, while exports totaled 53.1 billion euros from 55.9 billion over the same period, respectively.
