Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis began a press briefing on Thursday by repeating Greece's support for Israel's right to self defence while also insisting on the need to protect civilians.
"As the Prime Minister repeated at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, from the first moment we have supported Israel's right to self defence but at the same time we differentiated between the terror group Hamas and the people of Palestine and we are striving to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip," he said.
Marinakis, referring to the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, pointed out that the government remains focused on its reforms agenda, pushing through the major changes entrusted to their care by the Greek people.
He said the meeting had discussed a series of draft laws that seek to strengthen the country's critical infrastructure, increase the citizens' incomes and support entrepreneurship, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
Finally, Marinakis announced that the prime minister will visit the port city of Igoumenitsa on Friday, October 20, for the signing of a contract for the sale of a majority share in the Igoumenitsa Port Organisation, which marks the start of a new period in the development of Igoumenitsa port, which is the third largest port of Greece and the country's gateway to the Adriatic Sea.
