"We condemn the Israeli bombing of a building adjacent the Monastery of Aghios Porphyrios in Gaza, which resulted in the loss of many human lives," said main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance in an announcement on Friday.
"We condemn the Israeli bombing of a building adjacent the Monastery of Aghios Porphyrios in Gaza, which resulted in the loss of many human lives," said main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance in an announcement on Friday.
"This inevitable tragedy again highlights the impasse and the vicious circle that are the result of the operations against the absolutely reprehensible actions by Hamas, which leave behind dead civilians, as well as the imperative need for a ceasefire that the progressive forces are striving for," SYRIZA-PA underlined.
"Especially after this incident, it is unacceptable for the [Greek] government to talk generally about 'the protection of the civilians and places of worship'," the party added.
The announcement also called on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis "to stop hiding behind EU's passive stance" and to attempt to exercise an active policy in the Middle East by supporting the assumption of a European initiative for the protection of civilians and a ceasefire, as well as for the return of the hostages and averting a humanitarian crisis," the party concluded.
