Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis met on the sidelines of the NATO foreign ministers' meeting with this British counterpart, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, following the latter's initiative, diplomatic sources said.
The sources said that Gerapetritis highlighted the disagreement of principle between the two countries in terms of the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to Greece.
However, the two ministers decided that there is a need to collaborate in order to preserve the bilateral relations of Greece and the United Kingdom in order to deal with joint challenges.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reacted on Monday to the cancellation of his meeting with his British counterpart Rishi Sunak that would have included several issues of discussion including the return of the Parthenon Sculptures.
Gerapetritis is attending the two-day NATO meetings at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels (Nov 28-29).
