Marinakis: The Declaration of Athens allows us to make a real step forward
Greece and Turkiye, with the Declaration of Athens, are committed to relations of friendship and good neighbourliness and to steering these to "calm waters", government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis noted during his briefing to the press in Thessaloniki on Friday.
As Marinakis said regarding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Athens, "the Athens Declaration allows us to take a real step forward and to proceed with prudence and determination to the building of a sincere relationship based on the things that unite us. Friendly relations, discovering ways to defuse tension over our differences and a mutually beneficial level of cooperation on the economic, trade and social fronts".
Referring to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' visit to the flood-stricken region of Thessaly on Friday, he said that "the infrastructure will be fully restored" in the area, adding that the "works will be designed with our gaze fixed on the future, with specifications that meet the requirements of the new conditions".
