Agreement between Shipping Ministry and Foundation for Research and Technology

The Shipping and Island Policy Ministry has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Foundation for Research and Technology to strengthen entrepreneurship in the field of shipping and the implementation of a 300-million-euro project, which will protect navigation through the accurate forecasting of weather conditions.

The memorandum was signed in the presence of Shipping Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis and ministry general secretary Manolis Koutoulakis.

These are two agreements through which, as Plakiotakis stated, "a decisive step is taken for safety at sea and the strengthening of entrepreneurship in shipping".

"The Talos programme is an innovative programme whose implementation is undertaken by the ITE and fills an important gap in strengthening safety at sea, because due to climate change, we have to deal with extreme weather conditions," Plakiotakis said.
