European Commission confirms Juncker visit to Greece on April 26
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will be visiting Athens on April 26 for talks with Greece's leadership, Commission spokesperson Natasha Bertaud confirmed during the regular press briefing on Friday.
Announcing Juncker's programme, she said that he will start by meeting Greece's President Prokopios Pavlopoulos next Thursday at 10:00. He will then meet Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at 10:50, after which Juncker and Tsipras will hold a joint press conference at 11:35.
At 12:00, Juncker will address the plenary of the Hellenic Parliament, while during his visit to Athens he will also meet the leader of the opposition, New Democracy President Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Bertaud said.
Asked whether the visit was linked to debt relief talks for Greece, Bertaud noted only that technical talks were ongoing and that "nothing will be off the table" in President Juncker's meetings with the Greek leadership, where they will have a chance to "discuss any and all topics."
