PASOK-KINAL leader Androulakis initiates resignation as MEP ahead of Greek elections
Androulakis on Wednesday sent an e-mail from his office to the appropriate European Parliament service, with the process expected to be completed in 10-15 days.
The leader of the opposition PASOK-Movement for Change party, Nikos Androulakis, on Wednesday initiated the process for his resignation as a member of the European Parliament, as he had pledged to do on Tuesday after the announcement that Greek general elections will be held on May 21.
Androulakis on Wednesday sent an e-mail from his office to the appropriate European Parliament service, with the process expected to be completed in 10-15 days. His seat in the EuroParliament will go to the runner-up Nikos Papandreou, who came third in the European Parliament elections in 2019. He will essentially be the only representative of PASOK-KINAL in the European Parliament, given that Eva Kaili has not resigned as an MP but remains in custody over the Qatargate charges.
