There are specific responsibilities for the tragedy in Tempi, Tsipras says

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras said on Thursday that "there are specific responsibilities" for the tragedy in Tempi and that "not everyone is to blame, in general."

Tsipras was speaking in the Parliament during the discussion of the bill on support measures for those who were on the train and their families.

"We are here today to talk about the wound that opened a month ago in Tempi. With respect and sensitivity. Because this wound remains open. It does not close for the 57 families who lost their loved ones. It does not close for any of us," Tsipras said, while emphasising that "the need for respect and sensitivity becomes a hundred times more imperative when universal mourning turns into universal anger and a demand for truth and justice."

The leader of main opposition stressed that this was the demand "today of the grieving families", and of "the young men and women who demonstrated for days in all the cities and faced the chemicals and tear gas", as well as "the whole of Greek society," adding that there was a "duty to give space to light and truth".

"And there are specific responsibilities that must be assigned," he said.
