Greece-France relationship is old and deep, Ambassador Maisonnave says
French Ambassador to Greece Patrick Maisonnave, in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), described his country's relationship with Greece as one of the "most intense, rich and beautiful" bilateral relationships "in Europe and around the world", adding that he sees many opportunities for French investment in areas such as upgrading the Greek railway, energy projects and the development of ports, particularly in northern Greece, but also in tourism.
"Our bilateral relationship is very old, very deep, very intense," the French ambassador to Greece said.
"I think that France should strengthen its presence in northern Greece," he noted, underlining the potential of the region in general and of Alexandroupolis in particular, both on a strategic and economic level.
As far as the defence sector is concerned, Maisonnave underlined that the level of cooperation has never been so intense, citing as an example the five new contracts with Greek companies signed by the Naval Group at the recent international defence industry and security exhibition DEFEA 2023, in addition to the 50 contracts with Greek companies that already exist.
