Pensioners experience the Holy Week since a long time
The pensioners in the country carry the Cross of Martyrdom since they do not wait for the week of the Passion in order them to bow down and pray, because they do it every day, 365 days a year! Even in Christmas, they expect the Resurrection!
After the cuts, the annulment of the bonus and the dramatic increase in drug prices, these people carry a Cross permanently!
According to official data of the Ministry of Labor (Sun report) pensioners in our country who live in poverty are almost 750,000! This means that people with increased health care needs are forced to live with 500 Euros, at the most!
How do they live? Some of them seek leftovers in the trash, others are hosted by their children and others have come out in the job search!
Yes, this is the translation of the "surplus"!
What kind of jobs are they looking for? Night guards, plumbers, gardeners, whatever they can do to add a few more Euros in the amount of their pension in order to live!
This is our plight...
A few months ago an advert in a local newspaper caused sensation: "Retired due to disability, 55 years old, seeking work because lost pension rights, I have no mobility problems and can be employed in a job with no heavy physical stress (e.g. booth, gas station, night guard, cafe, outdoor work and any related work), I need 100 Euros a month for my meds and these are my requirements "!
This is the harsh reality. And on the other hand, is increased the number of "cunning" who take advantage of this need and "promise" 700 Euros per month for part time work, for pensioners!
The country would make an exit in the international markets, but when is going to make an exit in the society? And we do not mean the funeral service...
As for the "icing", namely that the government intends to put part of the pension in advance during Holy Week as a sign of goodwill, does not work anymore ... "Yeah , okay . And afterwards how would we manage?" wonder the retirees. What the government answers to that?
