PASOK: Katrinis: PM must give reasons why Androulakis was under surveillance

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis must reveal whether PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis poses a threat to public security, why he was placed under surveillance and who gave the order for this, the head of PASOK-KINAL's Parliamentary Group Michalis Katrinis said in Parliament on Friday, representing the opposition party during the off-the-agenda debate on the phone tapping affair.

According to Katrinis, the prime minister's reputation was damaged and he no longer inspired trust, "having placed his political survival above the country and the democratic institutions."

"He is a problem for the country's political stability and normality, not only now but also in the future," Katrinis added, claiming the government's goal had been to cover up the truth and demanding that the prime minister reveal which political and other public figures were under surveillance.

Referring to the prime minister's claim that he had been unaware of the surveillance, Katrinis said the issue was whether people believed him, stressing that Androulakis challenged him to publicly state the reasons why the surveillance was ordered.

He also rejected suggestions that a vote for PASOK could be equated with a vote for SYRIZA.
