Tsipras: 'None of Mitsotakis' promises have been submitted to Brussels'

Greece was and will remain a strong democracy, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras said in Chania, Crete on Tuesday, while accusing New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis of "ruthlessness, even with sensitive national issues" and "seeking to set up a regime, not a government."

"Greece will not become Orban's Hungary, however much Mr. Mitsotakis wants to be like him," Tsipras added, saying that the upcoming elections on June 25 are a clash between two alternative plans for governance, those of SYRIZA and ND, that are "like day and night".

According to the SYRIZA-PA leader, "none of Mr. Mitsotakis promises has been submitted to Brussels," while ND's programme has "hidden aspects".

Tsipras urged "democratic and progressive" voters to cast their vote for SYRIZA so that there will be a strong opposition to ND in Parliament, noting that every progressive vote that goes to smaller parties in the elections "supports ND's plan to be effectively beyond all control the following day".

He stressed that SYRIZA will "be here and support democracy" and "fight alongside society and people in need and for their rights", while urging voters to rally with the party to "keep the flame of justice and hope alive in Greek society."
