MEP Kaili expected to return to Europarliament duties 'within the next few days,' laywers assert
Greek MEP Eva Kaili, who was recently released from detention and, later, house arrest over the so-called 'Qatargate' scandal, "could not attend the European Parliament's session today because of a personal issue," her lawyers Michalis Dimitrakopoulos and Sven Mary said on Thursday.
Kaili "will return to her duties at the Europarliament within the next few days," they said in a joint statement.
They added that the legal procedure has been initiated to end restrictions - such as leaving the country to participate in the European Parliament sessions in Strasbourg - while the investigator of the case has allowed her partner Francesco Giorgi to live in their shared house.
