Perama fatal labor accident causes

The causes and circumstances of Monday's labor accident at the Perama Shipyard Repair Zone, where a 47-year-old crane vehicle operator lost his life and two other workers were injured are being investigated, said the Hellenic Labour Inspectorate in a statement on Monday evening.

"Health and safety inspectors from Piraeus immediately went to the scene as soon as they became aware of the incident," it was added.

A report will be drawn up upon completion of the investigation which will address the causes of all three incidents, and which will be forwarded to the Piraeus Prosecutor's Office, it was stressed.

It was also emphasized that the Inspectorate carries out regular inspections of the entire shipbuilding repair zone.
